TaxSlayer Renovation
Date
2019
Project type
Commercial Renovation
The TaxSlayer project was a substantial $8 million renovation of one of Downtown Augusta's prominent landmarks. This restoration endeavor demanded careful planning to safeguard the integrity and historical significance of the structure, originally built in 1923. My role as a BIM specialist on this project allowed me to incorporate the goal of preservation into my work, which was previously limited to new construction. Navigating around the intricacies of historic design features presented its share of challenges, but safeguarding this historic space was equally gratifying. To emphasize the assertion by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, "this rehabilitation demonstrates that historic preservation is an economic development tool, whose benefits are not only financial but also impact the quality of life and culture of a historic district."
